Description Castilene is a sulfur-free modeling compound that models like clay and works like wax. It is lightweight, compatible with silicones and other rubbers, and can be melted and poured at about 170°F (76 °C). Castilene is 40% lighter than plasticine. Various heat sources can be used to soften Castilene and make it workable (heat lamp, heat gun, microwave oven or water bath). All usuall wax modeling tools can be used. There are no problems with making molds with silicone. It is mainly used for smaller models up to 30 or 40 cm (e.g. dolls, play figures). Castilene generally has no problems molding with silicone rubber. Since Castilene is a very stable wax product, details can also be made very easily. Be careful with very thin and protruding model parts. Unique Properties The strength and light weight of Hard Castilene allows sculpting without a wire armature in many cases. Castilene does not inhibit silicone or other mold rubbers. Castilene can be burned out for lost wax casting.
