Y2 Clay is LIGHTWEIGHT being 40% lighter with 75% increased volume, Y2 Clay has a specific gravity of 95. It is sulphur free reducing odor and eliminating potential corrosion of susceptible metals.
In addition, Y2 Clay is workable at 125°F (51°C) meaning faster heating and more comfortable working range. Y2 Clay is more stable reducing temperature related structural and surface cracking on models and it is resilient improving extrusion flexibility and easing model mobility.
This Hard Styling Clay is most often warmed to its softening point before it is applied to an armature. Care should be taken not to overheat the clay during warming. It will become very sticky at temperature exceeding 130°F (54°C).
The best ‘slicked‘ surface on Y2 will be achieved after the clay body had completely returned to room temperature. Y2 retains some latent heat for long periods.
Templates can be dragged at any temperature but the final slicked surface will be achieved after several hours of cooling or perhaps even the next day.
- Hardness grade: 10 on a scale of 1 to 10
- Density: 1,00 g/cm³
- Working Temperature: Room Temperature to 125°F (51°C)
- Softening Point: 110 - 115°F (43-46°C)
Hard styling clays can be shaped to a very accurate and stable model. Many types of molds including polyester, epoxy, urathane and silicone can be taken from the clay surface.
All of Chavant‘s clays have been approved by ACMI to be Non-Toxic and Non-Harzardous. Y2 Clay does not contain sulphur.
Wash hands with soap and water after use.
